The point to note here is that the TV Channel's so-called expert panel regularly "chooses" topics which are relevant to Hindu cultural and religious traditions and subjects them to debate.

On 3 November 2009, research scholar Gauthaman, professional photographer Srinivasan, advocate Subramaniam Balaji and columnist Haran had a meeting with Antony, CEO of Mercury Creations, which produced the concerned program " Neeyaa Naanaa" (You or Me / Tum aur Mein) for 'Vijay TV.' During the conversation, Antony gave the important information that the topics for the program are "chosen" by an "expert panel" constituted by the TV Channel and that the producers (like him) could only give them some suggestions. The campaign has been successful so far and is likely to reach its logical conclusion in the days to come. As the concerned episode terribly hurt the cultural and religious sentiments of Hindus, a campaign was started by a few individual activists against the channel and the producer and sponsor of the concerned program. The backdrop to the article was an episode telecast by the Tamil Channel " Vijay TV ", which belongs to Rupert Murdoch's Star Group.

Readers may recall the three-part article titled " Electronic media and Hindu sentiments" that appeared here last month. jayasreeĮlectronic media and Hindu sentiments – A sequel The previous article by Mr Thamizhchelvan on this issue can be read here:- The Hindu-hatred of Tamil TV channels. For God's sake, let them not harm Tamil culture by claiming to cater to Tamils! Today we see people who run the programs for Tamils saying that they do 'this' for TRP rates and monetary returns! If the word "Hindu" makes them allergic, let them remember that what they are doing is against Tamil culture. Such were the people of this Tamil land who considered that even the ethical practice of a business man was inferior. Aai is one who follows the footsteps of Noble ones in that he does his work as it has to be done and not expect any returns. But the King Aai is not even like a businessman who does his work with an eye on good results. It is an accepted practice of Dharma that a businessman will follow ethical business tactics with the aim of reaping fruits in his next birth. While writing this, I am reminded of the Purananuru poem (134) by Muda mOsiyaar on the king Aai ANdiran, that the king is not an ' aRavilai vaNigan'. I am posting here the article by Mr Thamizhchelvan and the correspondence between the Editor of 'Hindu Voice' and the Sponsor of the Program who has a moral responsibility in checking what stuff is being brought out with the money they pay. The activism of writers such as Mr Thamizhchelvan & Mr Haran, research scholar Mr Gauthaman, professional photographer Mr Srinivasan and advocate Mr Subramaniam Balaji and internet forums has set precedence in checking the onslaught of the media which is supposed to be most powerful. It seems we, the people have to be watchful as the 6 th pillar to bring sense in others. It is a shame that the massacre of our Value system is happening in Independent India by the so-called 5 th Pillar that must guard our system. We as Indians and Tamils have been coming in a value system, which not even the invaders could shatter. In an irony of sorts, the callousness of Vijay TV has been brought out first by " Vijayvaani"!! The media has a very responsible role in a culturally vibrant country like ours. The TV has agreed to render an apology for the cultural slander it has been committing through this program in its telecast of Neeya Naana tomorrow, the 22 nd November.

Mr Thamizhchelvan's timely expose of the anti-Hindu tirade unleashed by the program ' Neeya Naana' telecast by Vijay TV has borne fruits.
